The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim teams competed on Saturday afternoon at the University of Tampa. The women came away with a 149-108 win behind three individual wins by Lindsey Alexander. The men suffered a 136-125 loss.
A backstroke specialist, Alexander (Fort Myers, FL) took both the 100 and 200 back with times of 1:00.75 and 2:09.22, respectively. She returned to post a time of 2:11.70 in the 200 IM to finish three seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Three other FAU swimmers won multiple events. Lauren Shue (Fort Myers, FL) touched the wall in 1:54.83 in the 200 free and 10:24.22 in the 1000 free. The Owls took two more freestyle events as Geni Burts (Pembroke Pines, FL) won the 500 free (5:02.72) and Jennifer Forcht won the 50 free in 25.00. Burts also won the 200 fly (2:05.85) and Forcht returned to win the 100 fly in 58.46.
Kalina Neal (San Antonio, TX) also won an event as she won the 200 breast in 2:28.56.
The men's team had five swimmers win events. The third Fort Myers, FL native to win an event in the meet, Kyle DeCicco won the 100 breast in a time of 1:00.13. The Owls would take both of the breaststoke events as Christian Baker won the 200 breast in 2:13.37. Other individual winners were Greg Corning, 200 IM (2:02.17); Matt Brody, 100 free (48.34) and Jonathon Pinto, 200 back (1:56.79)
The Owls will swim closer to home next weekend when they swim at Florida International against the Golden Panthers and Florida State University.
