Entering the week as one of eight undefeated teams in the country, Florida Atlantic University found itself ranked seventh in the South Region according to the RichKern.com/AVCA Division I Regional Computer Index Poll. The Owls hold a 14-0 record and are recognized nationally in severally statistical categories.
Kelly Paiva leads the team with 5.79 kills per game and is ranked fifth in the nation. As a team, the Owls are ranked 19th with a .278 hitting percentage and 28th in service aces per game with 2.23. Freshman Katie Arvidson leads the Atlantic Sun Conference with a .378 hitting percentage followed by fellow middle blocker Justine Petry with a .319 percentage.
FAU has used aggressive serving to keep opponents out of their offense. Makra Condill has done that with 23 service aces. Lauren McHugh and Kelly Paiva have both chipped in 20 for quick points for the Owls.
The poll takes into consideration the Rich Kern Percentage Index (RKPI) of all NCAA Division I teams, then computes each region based on the overall ranking. The RKPI mimics the NCAA RPI published at the end of the season. The index is not associated with the official NCAA Division I Regional Rankings.
