BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University women's basketball head coach Chancellor Dugan announced the signing of Brittney Crenshaw and Danielle Riekeberg to National Letters of Intent to begin play next season. Crenshaw will be a freshman forward while Riekeberg will be a junior center/forward.
Crenshaw, 5-9, completed a standout career at Sarasota High School playing for coach Amy Mazner. She posted 1,133 points along with 1,024 rebounds to go along with 297 steals and 172 blocks. As a senior, she averaged 17.3 points and 15.7 rebounds per game.
"I think with her size and quickness, she has the ability to make an immediate impact," said Dugan. "She comes from a great high school program and is very fundamentally sound."
Crenshaw was also a two-time Sarasota Herald-Tribune All-Area First Team selection.
Riekeberg, 6-1, is transferring to FAU following a two-year stint at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS, where she played for coach Debbie Carrier. She was an All-Region selection as a sophomore while averaging over seven points, seven rebounds, and three blocks per game. As a freshman, she averaged 5.2 points and 3.3 rebounds and helped lead the Cavaliers to the NJCAA Tournament. Riekeberg is a native of Kirksvill, MO, where she attended Kirksville High School.
"Danielle has an outstanding ability to block shots," said Dugan. "She will be counted on to help on the defensive end of the court. She can score on the inside and, according Coach Carrier, has great leadership traits."
The signing of Crenshaw and Riekeberg brings the number of FAU's 2004-05 signing class to four. In the fall, Dugan signed Susan Beauzil (Fr, 5-11, G/F, Ft. Lauderdale, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas HS) and Breana Cox (Fr, 6-2, C/F, Daytona Beach, FL/Seabreeeze HS).
