BOCA RATON, FL -- After a scoreless first half the offense of the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team exploded for three goals and a 3-1 victory over Lipscomb University Thursday.
Four goals in a span of 15:10 started with Samuel Dzegede on a breakaway off a Guilherme Ribeiro chip ahead to give the Owls a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute. Leonardo De Mata then scored a goal 8 minutes later in the 72nd minute on a cross from Aaron McDonald.
Just three minutes later, the Bisons would chip away at the lead when Michael Spencer connected on a pass in front by Kevin Terry.
The Owls were able to seal the victory when Ran Poliker beat the keeper for a 3-1 lead in the 78th minute.
The win gives FAU (6-7-0, 3-1 A SUN) a slight advantage heading into the final week of the regular season over the rest of the teams in the hunt for the final three Atlantic Sun Championship spots.
With the cancellation of Sunday's game, the next match for the Owls is scheduled for Oct. 27 at Gardner-Webb. Game-time is set for 7 p.m.
