BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's goalkeeper Anders Granstad was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week, Monday. It marked the second time this season he has earned such honors.
The senior from Oslo, Norway was just one second from a shutout victory over Jacksonville, Sunday. JU pressured Granstad and the FAU defense for much of the second half, forcing him to make several acrobatic saves. He finished with five stops and the 2OT victory, 2-1 over the Dolphins.
His effort allowed FAU to pick up a win in their first conference game of the season, after having the previous two games, including the scheduled conference opener against UNF, cancelled due to weather concerns.
The international business major's holds a 1.55 goals-against-average, including three shutouts. He currently holds the Owl career record for keeper shutouts with 10. He has played every second of every game in 2005.
