JACKSONVILLE, FL -- It took two second-half goals to help the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team escape Jacksonville University with a 2-2 tie Friday.
The Owls trailed 2-0 after the first 25 minutes thanks to Jacksonville's two top offensive threats, Jenny Borschel and Keri Zwikker.
Not to be outdone, Susanna Lehtinen picked up an assist on FAU's first goal in the 73rd minute, scored by Alicia Tirelli. She would go on to score a goal of her own in the 78th minute to bring the Owls even at 2.
The goal is Lehtinen's seventh of the season. She now has 16 points in nine games, tying her for second in the Atlantic Sun Conference with Zwikker.
The goal in the 10th minute by JU (3-5-3,1-1-1) broke a 46- minute shutout streak by the FAU (7-3-1, 3-0-1) defense.
The Owls return home on Sunday to take on their final non-conference foe of the season, Central Florida. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
