BOCA RATON, FL - Chancellor Dugan, Florida Atlantic University's head women's basketball coach, has been awarded a three-year contract extension, announced Athletics Director Craig Angelos.
Dugan is in her sixth season and has transformed FAU into one of the top programs in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Since 1999, Florida Atlantic has posted 57 conference wins, an average of over 11 per year. Heading into this season, over the past three years, the Lady Owls have posted a 36-20 (.643) record in A-Sun play while earning a no. 2 seed in the A-Sun Tournament twice. Dugan's teams have qualified for the A-Sun Tournament in each of her five seasons at the helm. In 2002, she led the team to the title game of the A-Sun Tournament.
"I am pleased with the dedication and passion Chancellor brings to our basketball team," said Angelos. "I believe in her and know she will lead this team to greater heights. I know we are all going to see a very good team this year."
"I am greatly appreciative and excited about the direction the women's basketball program is going," said Dugan. "I think under the leadership of Craig Angelos and President (Frank) Brogan, we are on the verge of something special here at FAU."
Dugan holds a career record of 227-155 in 13 years as a collegiate head coach. She has won 68 games in her tenure at FAU. The first eight years of her career were spent at Southern Indiana. She was named head coach at Florida Atlantic in July 1999.
Florida Atlantic faces Florida International Saturday night in Miami.
