BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's Shontavia Williams has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Player-of-the-Week, announced the conference office Monday afternoon. Williams averaged 18.0 points in two games at the FAU Thanksgiving Classic last week and receives the honor for the first time in her career. She was among those named to the All-Tournament Team at the classic.
Williams, a junior from Miami, scored 15 points to go along with six rebounds Friday night against Youngstown State. On Saturday, she led all scorers with a season-high 21 points and eight rebounds as the Lady Owls defeated Morehead State, 82-70. She also made both of her three-point attempts against the Lady Eagles.
Williams made three of the six three-pointers she attempted last week and connected seven out of eight times from the foul line. On the year, she is averaging 13.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Florida Atlantic (1-3) hosts Lipscomb Thursday night at 7:00pm in its A-Sun opener at FAU Gymnasium. They take on Belmont Saturday at noon.
