BOCA RATON, FL - The first post-season award has been bestowed upon Florida Atlantic University's women's soccer team following its program record 16-win season, Atlantic Sun Player-of-the-Year Rhonda Jones was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association All-Southeast Region Team for the third consecutive year.
"I am extremely proud of Rhonda and what she has accomplished in her four years at FAU," said head coach Brian Dooley. "This is further validation that other teams are recognizing how great of a player Rhonda Jones is and what she contributed to the women's soccer program."
Jones was named to the NSCAA Third-Team for the second time in three years after earning Second-Team honors in 2002. She set career highs in goals, points, and game-winning goals as she guided Florida Atlantic to its second consecutive A-Sun regular season title and third A-Sun championship final in four years. She led the team with eight goals and 19 points and tied for a team high three game-winning goals.
The most decorated athlete in Lady Owls history, Jones is a three-time A-Sun First-Team selection and has earned Soccer Buzz All-Region honors for the past two. She finished her career at FAU in the top five of points (third), goals (fourth), assists (second), games played (second), games started (third), shots (fourth) and game-winning goals (fourth).
