Baseball Signs Mike Salivar

Florida Atlantic University signed its ninth player of the early signing period on Tuesday. Mike Salivar from Palm Beach Gardens High School is the sixth baseball player to sign with FAU from the Palm Beach/Broward County area.

The left-handed pitcher's junior season was comprised of a 7-0 record, which was third in the county, and 42 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings. The 6'3" starter only allowed 29 hits and posted a 1.10 ERA as the Gators finished the season 27-4 under coach Joe Russo.

"Mike has the potential to develop into a quality college pitcher," said head coach Kevin Cooney. "The promise he displayed in our camp two years ago, emerged last season at Gardens. We are happy to see Mike join our program."

Mike has an older brother Chris that is an offensive lineman on the FAU football team.

FAU, which won the 2003 Atlantic Sun title, opens the season on February 6, 2004 against Florida A&M in Boca Raton, FL.
