BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's soccer team has started 2-0 in the Atlantic Sun for the third time in program history and the first time since 2001. The Owls travel to Orlando, FL, to take on Central Florida, Sunday, at 3:30 pm in an effort to become the first FAU team to start 3-0 in conference play. FAU and UCF are the only remaining undefeated teams in the A-Sun.
FAU (5-5-1, 2-0-0 A-Sun) leads the A-Sun in goals scored (26) and goals per game (2.36). Opposing teams have not been able to cool off Offensive Player-of-the-Week Kristoffer Aarskog or Josh Garbee. Aarskog, a senior from Bergen, Norway, leads the conference in goals (10) and points (22). He is tied for third in the nation in goals per game (1.00) and tied for seventh in points per game (2.20). Garbee has scored a goal in four straight games and has recorded 10 points in that span.
UCF (6-2-2, 2-0-0 A-Sun) leads the all-time series against FAU, 13-7-1. The Owls lost to the Golden Knights 2-1 in overtime last season. Aarskog scored the game-tying goal for Florida Atlantic with 16 minutes remaining in the game. UCF is led by Eric Vasquez, who has recorded two goals and four assists. The Golden Knights have allowed the second fewest goals in the conference. Ryan McIntosh is second in the conference in goals-against average (1.04) and leads the conference in shutouts (4).
