Softball Captures Fall Tourney Title

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic went 2-1 on the final day of action at the FAU Fall Softball Invitational to maintain its lead and capture the tournament championship. The Lady Owls were defeated by Barry, 7-6, before shutting out both FIU and Lynn in evening contests.
FAU was one of six teams in the field that participated in exhibition contests with 1:20 time limits. In all, the Lady Owls went 4-1-1 in the two-day tournament. FIU finished second with a 3-2 record.
The tournament marked the end of the team's official fall practice. The games do not count toward FAU's regular season, which begins Janury 31 at the USF "Louisville Slugger" Tournament in Tampa.
FAU is coming off its seventh straight Atlantic Sun Conference championship and fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
