BOCA RATON, FL - For the second consecutive season, Florida Atlantic University's Nikki Myers has been named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Southeast Region First-Team. Myers helped lead FAU this year to its sixth consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference title and its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Myers, a senior from St. Petersburg, FL who received the same distinction in 2001 on her way to Second-team All-America honors, is 35-6 on the year with a 0.63 ERA. She also leads the Lady Owls at the plate, hitting .374 with a team-high 12 homers and 16 doubles. She is among the nation's leaders in strikeouts per seven innings, ERA, and victories. In last week's A-Sun Tournament, she moved into third-place in NCAA history in career strikeouts. She currently stands at 1,356.
The Lady Owls (60-11) begin play Thursday in the NCAA Regional in Tallahassee, FL. FAU is the no. 1 seed and faces no. 6 Chattanooga. If FAU can win the regional, it will advance to its first-ever Women's College World Series next week in Oklahoma City, OK.
