BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team is ranked no. 67 in the latest ITA national poll released Wednesday. It's the first time the team has received a national ranking since moving to Division I eight seasons ago.
The Lady Owls are currently on an 11-match winning streak and hold a 14-4 overall record. This week's ranking comes less than a week after FAU defeated no. 71 Colorado and no. 61 New Mexico State.
FAU is led by interim head coach Caroline Hora, who guided the team to within one win of the NCAA Tournament last season. Since midway through the 2001 season, Hora has led the Lady Owls to a 24-6 overall mark.
Alena Dvorakova leads the team on the court with a 20-6 record this year, 14-3 at the no. 1 position. She is one of four Lady Owls with at least 10 dual match victories this season.
FAU closed out its home schedule last weekend with a perfect 12-0 record. They next take on Virginia Tech April 12 in Blacksburg, VA one day before their season-finale against no. 9 Virginia Commonwealth.
