Softball Captures "Louisville Slugger" Title

TAMPA, FL - Florida Atlantic University completed its season-opening tournament with a 2-1 victory over Northwestern University Sunday in the championship game of the USF "Louisville Slugger" Invitational. Ninya Ybarra led off the game with a home run as FAU improved to 5-0 on the year.
Ybarra would score both runs as she came across to score in the fifth on a single by Pam Mazzarella. Northwestern would score its only run in the seventh.
Nikki Myers went the distance, allowing just two hits and striking out five. She improved to 3-0 on the year.
Florida Atlantic next takes part in the FSU Seminole Challenge beginning Thursday in Tallahassee.
