TAMPA, FL - Florida Atlantic University defeated South Florida, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Tampa, FL. The win improves FAU to 3-3 on the year.
FAU took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. The Lady Owls claimed all three matches in doubles play before needing just three singles victories to clinch the match.
In singles, the teams split the first four matches completed with FAU taking victories at no. 2 and no. 5. Alena Dvorakova and Krystel Borg each won at those respective positions. Leading 3-2 at that point, FAU needed just one more victory to clinch the match. They would get it when Karolina Roubickova defeated Jamie Larson 6-4, 6-2 at no. 6 to give the Lady Owls a 4-2 lead and the victory. USF picked up one more point with a victory at no. 3.
FAU next faces Florida State Sunday morning in Tallahassee.
