Note: Steve LeBrun finished a standout career at Florida Atlantic in 1999-2000. He was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player-of-the-Year while leading FAU with a 71.5 stroke average. In his 11 tournaments as a senior, LeBrun won two while forcing a playoff in a third. Overall, he finished in the top-five in seven competitions with 10 top-10 finishes. In his four years at Florida Atlantic, LeBrun won five tournaments and finished in the top-five 20 times.

FAYETTEVILLE, GA -- It came down to a four foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole, but when it was all said and done, Steve LeBrun carded a final round 6-under 66 to come from 2 strokes back to win the 2002 Naturally Fresh Points Tour Championship at WhiteWater CC in Fayetteville, GA.
The birdie on 18 gave Lebrun, from Palm Springs, FL, a 1 shot edge over Kevin Pendley who closed with a 5-under 67. "Kevin really pushed me to play better," said the 24 year-old LeBrun. "I was shaking over that four footer. You know if you miss you're okay, but I really wanted to close it out."
Once again, conditions were perfect for scoring with no wind, soft greens and playing lift, clean and place in the fairways. When we first started I was thinking it would take 14 or 15 under," added LeBrun. "But when I heard about all the guys going low from the earlier tee times I knew I had to score and keep scoring." Lebrun takes home $40,000 for his trouble. Speaking of money, on the strength of two wins (Chattanooga & Southaven, MS) Michael Connell finished the 2002 season as the NGA/Hooters Tour leading money winner with $76,303.75, which means he gets a sponsors exemption into PGA Tour event in Kingsmill, Virginia. The Rookie of the year award goes to Chad Collins of Cloverdale, IN. Collins finished 7th on the money list winning one event (Savannah, GA). Dwayne Randall takes home the Golf Achievement Award which goes to the player who best personifies the professional golfer. Josh Broadaway (Albany, GA) and Todd Fields (El Paso, TX) share most improved honors. The player of the year went to Connell.
