FAU women's soccer opens conference play with a win

Boca Raton - ,Florida Atlantic Women's Soccer team opens the Atlantic Sun Conference play with a 3-2 win over the University of Central Florida.
FAU scored one goal in the first half, two early goals in the second half and then held on as UCF scored two late goals.
Freshman midfielder Kelly Hoffmann scored her first collegiate goal at the 9:45 mark of the first half. Hoffmann took a pass from fellow freshman Janine Aylward and lifted a shot over the UCF goalkeeper from 30 yards out.
FAU broke the game open in the beginning of the second half by scoring two goals in 1:33. Junior forward Lisanne Peart scored her first goal of the season at 49:59, off a cross from freshman Brandi Herrmann. Peart dribbled across the 18 yard box and let goal a left footed shot that beat UCF goalkeeper Jessica Kuhlman in the top corner. Herrmann then assisted on her second goal of the match by setting up Janine Aylward for her first collegiate goal.
UCF then came on late in the game, scoring goals by Nicole Cieslak (73:36) and Michelle Anderson (89:02). The second goal was scored on a penalty kick.
FAU Head Coach Brian Dooley was very pleased with his teams effort, saying, "This was our first conference game, first win, and it came against a tough opponent, UCF." Dooley continued, "Today we showed the drive and determination to win a big game."
With the win FAU goes to 4-2 on the season and 1-0-0 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. UCF drops to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
FAU plays at Jacksonville, Saturday, September 22, at 2pm.
