DAYTONA BEACH, FL -
Florida Atlantic University defeated Bethune-Cookman College, 4-0, Saturday in a non-conference dual match in Daytona Beach, FL. The win improves FAU to 17-4 on the year.
The Owls, ranked 57th in the nation, took advantage of an under-manned Wildcats team which fielded just five players. The result was two wins by default for the Owls, one at no. 3 doubles and the other at no. 6 singles.
FAU took the doubles point when Fabio Faerman and Sandro Spotti defeated BCC's Pablo Martinez and Ondrej Sliva.
Staked to a 2-0 lead by virtue of the default at no. 6, the Owls quickly clinched the match with victories by Andre Buzzoni and Spotti at no. 4 and no. 5, respectively. Singles no.1-3 and doubles no. 1 did not finish.
Florida Atlantic concludes its regular season Friday with a match against no. 38 Rice in Miami.
