FAU Splits Day Two at Speedline

TAMPA - Kristie Picon picked up a victory and Nikki Myers hit her fourth homer in two days at the University of South Florida Speedline Invitational. In the duo's efforts, Florida Atlantic University's softball team fell to the University of Wisconsin 1-0 and defeated Hofstra University 9-3.
Wisconsin held the Lady Owls to just one hit in the first game, a hit by Heather Wright. Myers, who earned Trans America Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, named Friday, retired eight would be Badgers hitters on strike outs and allowed four hits in the loss. Myers' record moved to 10-5.
Picone held off Hofstra to improve to 4-1 on the season. Myers was 2-for-3 with the homer, but the RBI production came from left fielder Nynia Ybarra. Ybarra was 2-for-3, with a bases loaded triple and a bases loaded walk.
FAU improves to 18-7 and will next play the University of Chattanooga, noon today.
