Softball Captures FIU Tournament

In the only game not rained out for Florida Atlantic University, the softball team defeated Florida International University 1-0 in the championship game of the "Golden Panther" Invitational, on Sunday afternoon. The win raises the Lady Owls record to 15-6, while FIU falls to 19-6.
Three Lady Owls were named to the All-Tournament team: starting pitcher, Nicole Myers pitched a complete game-two hitter, while striking out 13 batters, Ninya Ybarra, who was 2-for-4 in the championship game, including a double and Heather Wright. It is the second consecutive tournament, which Myers has earned MVP honors. In the bottom of the seventh, Ybarra hit a single to left scoring pinch runner Ginny Matthews, who was FAU's pinch runner on second.
The Lady Owls travel to Tampa for USF Speedline Tournament on Wedensday. FAU will face the University of Massachusetts 5 pm, Thursday and the University of Kansas at 7 pm.
