Florida Atlantic University had its six-match winning streak snapped Saturday in a 5-2 loss to visiting Auburn-Montgomery. The loss drops FAU to 9-10 on the season.
Auburn-Montgomery secured the doubles point by winning all three matches in taking an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Senators took a 2-0 lead before the Lady Owls picked up their first point on a straight-sets victory by no. 71 Kristen Jordan. The senior defeated Ximena Rodriguez 6-3, 6-1 at no.1. Trailing 3-1, FAU's Maria Aguirre-Gomez won at no. 2 to pull the Lady Owls to within 3-2. However, FAU dropped the final two matches in the third set to fall 5-2.
The match was Florida Atlantic's final at home this season. The Lady Owls face Bethune-Cookman on Monday and South Florida on Tuesday in a two-match road swing which will conclude their regular season.
