Women's Tennis Wins, Sets Record

BOCA RATON, FL -
Florida Atlantic University extended its winning streak to six matches with a 5-2 victory over the University of Massachusetts Thursday afternoon in Boca Raton. The winning streak is now the team's longest since moving to Division I seven years ago. The Lady Owls also evened their 2001 record at 9-9.
FAU stormed through doubles play, winning all three matches while dropping just two games. Jessica Burrow, playing singles for the first time this season, easily defeated UMass's Caroline Larson 6-0, 6-0 at no. 6 to take the first singles victory. Kristen Jordan, ranked 59th in the nation, had similar ease in defeating Francesca Mancini 6-1, 6-0 at no. 1. Maria Aguirre-Gomez and Tania Rivera also added victories for Florida Atlantic to account for the 5-2 win.
The Lady Owls next host Auburn-Montgomery Saturday at 10:00am in their final home match of the season.
