Daytona Beach, FL - A 10-2 Florida Atlantic University victory was placed on the board over Bethune-Cookman University before the rain came. Before the night was done, the Wildcats outscored FAU 6-5 in a unscheduled doubleheader, Saturday.
FAU scored four runs in the third added two in the second to take a 6-1 advantage after five innings of play. Bethune responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth before FAU tacked on four through the final three innings.
Danny Core started the game, allowed two and the lone run given up was unearned. With the victory, Core improved to 1-1 on the season. Offensively, FAU was led by Shaen O'Connor who was 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Jason Sullivan also drove two across the plate as did Regan Samaniego.
The second game, which was played despite the rain due to a forecasted Sunday storm saw FAU post its only runs in the top of the third. The Wildcats responded with three in the bottom of the inning and took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. The game was called after seven due to weather.
FAU will return home for a 7 pm, Friday contest versus Boston College.
