Matt Ryan has signed an NLI with Baseball

BOCA RATON - Matt Ryan has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for Florida Atlantic University, announced John McCormack, FAU's Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
"Matt is your typical lead-off guy," says McCormack. "His instincts for the game are tremendous. He creates havoc on the bases."
Ryan, a 5-8, 160, left-handed center fielder, is expected to replace FAU senior center fielder Gabe Somarriba, one of the best defensive center fielders to play at FAU, who has also served as the team's lead-off hitter. Ryan, a Camden, NJ native, will come to FAU by way of Louisburg Community College in Louisburg, NC, where he plays for Billy Goodwin. He will join former Cloucster Catholic High School teammate Chris Della Rocco, a current FAU pitcher.
At Louisburg, Ryan earned All-American honors and led his JUCO team to the Regional Finals. As a freshman, he hit .423 with 81 stolen bases.
Ryan is one of six to commit to FAU during the early signing period.
