MIAMI (AP) - Doug Parker ran for two touchdowns and Brittney Tellis scored on a 75-yard fourth-quarter punt return as Florida Atlantic defeated Albany 27-9 on Saturday.
The win snapped a four-game Florida Atlantic losing streak, allowing the Fighting Owls(4-6) to end their inaugural season on a positive note.
Albany (7-3) was plagued by turnovers, losing four of nine fumbles.
The Fighting Owls took a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, with Parker opening the scoring on a 7-yard run. Jared Allen then hit Thomas Parker with an 88-yard touchdown pass, followed by an 8-yard scoring run by Doug Parker, who gained 75 yards on 20 carries.
Albany's defense stiffened in the second half, not allowing a first down.
The Great Danes scored their only touchdown in the fourth quarter, Greg Sigler catching a 5-yard pass from Ryan Roder. That cut Florida Atlantic's lead to 20-9.
Tellis' touchdown with 2:47 left in the game closed out the scoring.
