Women's Tennis Claims Top Honors in Amelia Island

AMELIA ISLAND, FL -
Florida Atlantic University began fall competition by taking top honors at the Amelia Island Tournament in Amelia Island, FL. The Lady Owls took part in singles and doubles matches with Jacksonville, Mercer, and Florida A&M during the two-day event. In all, FAU won 17 of its 18 singles matches while earning victories in seven of nine doubles matches.
In singles action, Maria Aguirre-Gomez went 2-1 at the no. 1 position while Tania Rivera went 3-0 at no. 2. Krystel Borg, Alena Dvorakova, Stephanie Beaulieu, and Jessica Burrow also went 3-0 in singles play.
FAU's no. 1 doubles team of Aguirre-Gomez and Rivera went 2-1 while the team of Dvorakova and Burrow went 3-0. Beaulieu and Borg teamed up to post a 2-1 record over the weekend.
