Florida Atlantic University defeated Middle Tennessee State university, 5-0, Sunday afternoon. Rhonda Jones scored two goals as FAU improved to 5-2 on the year. Melissa Bobby, Lauren Manfrass, and Lindsey Novitske also scored for FAU.
Jones scored the first goal of the match off of a cornerkick 14:48 into the first half. At 44:16, the Lady Owls scored again on a penalty kick by Manfrass.
In the second half, Bobby gave FAU a 3-0 lead at 63:52. Jones increased the advantage at 76:31 by scoring with her second goal, giving the Lady Owls a 4-0 lead. With only 1:11 remaining. Novitske outran a MTSU defender and scored the final goal of the match.
I was pleased with the way we played," said FAU head coach Brian Dooley. "We got a little too anxious at times, but we managed to settle down into our type of game plan."
The Lady Owls outshot MTSU 17-5. FAU goalkeeper Molly Keating had three saves in recording her third shutout of the season.
Jessica Kmiotek had two assists while Helena Ternau and Tracy Drost each had an assist in the victory.
