Florida Atlantic University (1-0) took advantage of four goals from four different players to shutout Eckerd College, 4-0, Friday night in season openers for both teams.
Melissa Bobby and Lauren Lucena each had a goal and assist for the Lady Owls. It was the first day of play at the FAU Kick-off Classic.
FAU's Lisanne Peart began the scoring with the game's first goal 13:13 into the first half on an assist by Bobby. The game remained 1-0 in favor of FAU heading into the intermission.
FAU took a 2-0 advantage at 51:30 on Lucena's goal. She was assisted by Helena Ternau. Eighteen minutes later, bobby scored on an assist by Jessica Kmiotek.
The Lady Owls finished the scoring with 4:29 left in the match on a Lauren Manfrass goal, with an assist by Lucena.
"It's a good first game for us," said FAU head coach, Brian Dooley. "We were a little bit out of rhythm in the first half but corrected it in the second half. I'm also pleased to see we got four goals from four different players."
