John Stephenson

At FAU

Joined Florida Atlantic’s staff in September 2019 as the Owls’ associate athletics director for compliance and also serves as a member of the executive staff
In April of 2022, he was elevated to senior associate athletics director...along with his focus on compliance he was served and will continue to serve as sport supervisor for the tennis programs as well as a shepherd for the NIL program

At Florida State

Prior to FAU, Stephenson served as the director of compliance from September 2017 until September 2019
Oversaw compliance areas of Financial Aid (Bylaw 15) and Awards and Benefits (Bylaw 16) for the FSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
Provided NCAA and ACC rules interpretations and education to coaches, student-athletes and other athletic department staff members
Was the primary compliance liaison for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s cross country and track & field
