Michael Marfione joined the Florida Atlantic University marketing team in January 2019 as an assistant director. With 10 years of collegiate marketing experience, Marfione brings extensive knowledge on how to develop marketing plans and strategies that will help increase fan attendance and revenue.
Prior to FAU, Marfione spent two years at the Air Force Academy as an assistant athletic director of marketing and fan experience. Marfione developed a comprehensive marketing and advertising plan for all ticketed sports, which led to increases in revenue for football by 20 percent and men’s basketball by 18 percent. He also spearheaded several digital advertising strategies and social media initiatives in an effort to boost fan engagement and ticket sales.
Before his stint at Air Force, Marfione served as a coordinator of marketing and promotions at Boston University for five years. At BU, Marfione planned in-game presentations and promotions, as well as cultivated campus partnerships and other outreach strategies to drive attendance at men’s and women’s basketball games.
Marfione has also held similar roles in the athletic departments at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Vermont, where he got his start at developing and implementing marketing plans and game promotions across several sports.
Marfione graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sport management from Ithaca College in May 2007.
