After 15 years of collegiate athletics experience, Dexter LaMont moved from the FAU Athletics Department into the joint position of Director of Trademark Licensing and Marketing. In 2019, his position expanded further, incorporating Brand Development. In his current role, LaMont directs all facets of Florida Atlantic University’s Office of Brand Development, Licensing, and Marketing, including strategic business development responsibilities. Additionally, he continues to provide leadership and consultation with the management of the athletics department's multimedia rights partner. In the spring of 2024, he was elevated to assistant vice president.
Employing his previous experience in collegiate athletics, including oversight of all external units of revenue generation, LaMont strengthens the FAU brand and create innovative partnerships with retailers and stakeholders alike. His efforts include creating an unparalleled leverage of retail space, within the local brick and mortar stores, for carrying FAU merchandise, while also strengthening the brand in the e-commerce space.
LaMont handles all marketing assets for University-wide business partnerships, within the Office of Business Services. This incorporates all marketing and sponsorship activations, programs, and merchandise retail efforts that increase exposure of the FAU brand. His duties also integrate trademark protection of licensed products. This includes marketplace and online enforcement, contract development and compliance, and trademark registration and protection, as well as strengthening the trademark legislation.
His professional associations include being a dedicated member of the International Collegiate Licensing Association, where LaMont currently serves as the 2nd Vice President of the organization’s Board of Directors. In FY21, he led the organization’s sponsorship team to their highest revenue totals, ever.
LaMont is a graduate of Florida State University.
