Caroline Kane joined the Florida Atlantic University in January 2022 as a senior associate athletics director for business and finance/CFO.
Kane came to FAU with more than a dozen years of experience at the NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics level primarily focusing on senior business and finance.
Prior to FAU, Kane served two years as the UCF associate athletics director for business and finance in December of 2019, where her primary responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations of the Knights' athletic business office and coordinating the preparation and management of the annual athletics operating budget.
Kane moved to Orlando following four years on the athletic staff at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She served the last two and a half years as senior associate athletic director for internal affairs and CFO—overseeing all internal operations (including finance, revenue, human resources, capital projects, equipment, licensing, tickets, and facility upgrades). She was the athletics implementation lead for the Workday Project which created a new campus-wide system for finance, budget, accounts payable, payroll and human resources.
She originally joined the Furman staff in January 2016 as associate athletic director for business and finance and CFO—handling budget analysis and management, accountability and reporting for budget managers and policy and process improvement. She was also responsible for balancing the operating budget, a first for the athletic department, which continued throughout her four-year term. She oversaw business contracts, accounts payable, travel, procurement and budget and financial reporting.
Her move to the east coast followed six years at the University of California, Berkeley, where she served in three capacities within the Cal athletics department--including financial budget analyst, director of human resources and contracts and assistant athletics director for business and finance. At Cal she represented the athletics department as a university budget representative. Each year she was nominated and recognized as employee of the month and was a recipient of the STAR Campus Achievement Award during her tenure with the Golden Bears' athletics department.
A New Orleans, Louisiana, native, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration (with a minor in marketing) from the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2008.
A year later she added her Master of Science degree in sport management, also from Southern Mississippi, again graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Kane began her professional career as an undergraduate, serving as a marketing assistant in the Southern Mississippi athletics department. Following graduation and while completing work on her master's degree, she worked as a graduate assistant with the Southern Miss athletic business operations. She was a leadership scholarship recipient at Southern Miss and received President's List recognition.
