Jessica Jackson was named the interim head coach for Florida Atlantic women’s basketball on March 25, 2025, after serving as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator since May 2021.
Jackson has led Florida Atlantic's recruiting efforts, helping the program lockdown five transfers from the SEC, AAC, Big 12, and Big Ten, as well as five international student-athletes during her four seasons in Boca Raton.
During the 2024-25 season, Jackson coached sophomore point guard Stefanie Ingram, who ranks third all-time in program history in single-season assists with 160. She also helped guide junior guard Mya Perry to AAC Second Team All-Conference honors, freshman guard Erin Rodgers to three AAC Freshman of the Week awards, and six AAC Weekly Honorable Mention lists.
In her third season in Paradise, Jackson helped coach the Owls to finish third in the AAC in 3-point percentage and fourth in 3-pointers per game, led by Mya Perry, who finished third in the league in 3-point percentage, .386, and fourth in 3-pointers per game, 2.4.
In 2022-23, she coached guard Aniya Hubbard to the program’s first-ever CUSA Freshman of the Year accolade, in addition to being named CUSA Second Team All-Conference, CUSA All-Defensive Team, and CUSA All-Freshman Team, marking the first Owl in program history to receive four postseason honors in the same year.
During her first year, she guided Rita Pleskevich to CUSA Honorable Mention honors.
Prior to arriving in Boca Raton, Jackson served as the director of recruiting operations at UT. During her two seasons at Rocky Top, UT produced a combined 38-18 overall record and 19-10 mark in SEC play, while earning a spot in the SEC Tournament semifinals in 2021 for the first time in five years. During the 2020-21 season, UT defeated four ranked opponents, including No. 2/3 South Carolina. The Lady Vols earned a No. 3 seed to the NCAA Tournament after finishing 17-8 overall and 9-4 in SEC play, and finished No. 14 in the AP poll and 16th in the USA TODAY poll.
The Lady Vols’ first recruiting class, which was completed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, produced 2020-21 starters in a true freshman and two graduate transfers. Jackson and the UT staff’s four-player signing class in 2021 was ranked as No. 9 by ProspectsNation and No. 15 by HoopGurlz/espnW.
A former player, graduate assistant and assistant under Tennessee’s head coach Kellie Harper, Jackson spent the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Harper at Missouri State. The Lady Bears, who went 25-10 (16-2 in Missouri Valley Conference) and won the MVC Tournament title that season, also advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
Before MSU, Jackson worked at Samford during the 2017-18 season. Her main responsibilities for the Bulldog women’s team included recruiting, academics and scheduling.
Jackson served the prior three years at Appalachian State from 2014-17. She contributed to a myriad of aspects to the program in addition to her duties in the coaching and recruiting spectrum, ranging from equipment to compliance.
Previous to her time at Appalachian State, Jackson was the director of women’s basketball operations at Kent State from 2012-14. She spent a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at North Carolina State before that.
Jackson played college basketball for two seasons at South Florida before transferring to Western Carolina before the 2007-08 season to play for Coach Harper. The starting guard dished out a team-high 117 assists for the Catamount’s NCAA Tournament team in 2009, while finishing her collegiate career with 475 points and 279 assists in 113 games.
A Roswell, Georgia native, Jackson was a 2016 inductee into the Roswell High School Hall of Fame.
Jackson graduated from WCU in 2010 with a marketing degree and earned her master’s in adult and community college education from North Carolina State in 2012.
