Shelley Binegar joined Florida Atlantic University in January of 2004 as an Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Ticket Operations.
In 2005 Binegar moved from the ticket office to the development office where she now oversees the Owl Club, FAU's official booster organization, along with maintaining oversight of the ticket office. Under her guidance Owl Club giving has increased 130%. In addition to her Owl Club duties, Binegar is also responsible for planning the Athletics Department's special events including the Owl Club Dinner and Auction, Golf Tournament, Hall of Fame Banquet, football tailgates, and Owl Watch parties. Over the past two years special events revenues have increased 150%.
In addition to her development and ticket responsibilities, Binegar also serves as the department's liaison for the Student-Athlete Mentor Program. The mentor program matches current student athletes with community members in areas of study and expertise.
Binegar came to FAU following a four year stint at Ohio University where she was the director of ticket operations. Binegar, an Athens, OH native, returned to Ohio after spending a year at the University of Wisconsin as an office assistant in the athletics ticket office.
A 1998 graduate of Bowling Green State University, she earned a bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in marketing. She went on to earn a master's degree in Sport Administration from Ohio University in 1999.
Binegar has one cat, Smokey (8).
