Basketball Teams to Debut This Weekend

BOCA RATON, FL - This weekend marks the beginning of official practice for the Florida Atlantic University men's and women's basketball teams. Fans will have the opportunity to take part in two special events in order to get to know the 2003-04 Owls. The first is "Midnight Mayhem" Friday night at FAU Gymnasium. On Saturday, the teams will take part in Basketball Fan Day in conjunction with FAU's football game at Lockhart Stadium.

Competitions open to the fans for "Midnight Mayhem" include a student slam dunk contest and the Bank Atlantic 2-Ball Contest. There will be free food for the first 500 people beginning at 11:15pm. Doors to the gym will open at 11:45pm.

Fan Day will take place Saturday outside Lockhart Stadium prior to the FAU-Northern Colorado football game. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the head coaches, players, and staff. In addition, basketball posters and schedule cards will be available at no charge. Fan Day runs from 2-4 pm with an autograph session beginning at 3 pm.

Both the men's and women's basketball teams open regular season play November 21.
