Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic University's Athletics Department is schedule to lend a helping hand to the "Minucci Family Fund" through the organizational efforts of T's Kenpo Karate, located on the corner of Hillsboro and Lyons in the Hillsboro Shopping Center.
Student-athletes and coaches will be on hand from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., for the fund raiser scheduled to run from 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday, April 13 at the T's Kenpo Karate, located in "The Market Place".
All funds raised will assist Dominick Minucci, an 8-year old boy born with Hypomelonosis of Ito, a rare neuromuscular disease. The muscular disease likens Minucci to a quadriplegic. He also has polycistic kidney and liver disease and can only communicate by shrills and his eyes.
The family has rallied through both Dominick's illness and his mother being held at gun-point in a hostage situation. The fund raiser's mission is to help the family raise money to keep the family of five's home and to assist with medical bills.
The medical field has reached out. With no car and no way to transport Dominick to treatment, doctors have begun treatment at home. Through the help of generous volunteers and FAU's student-athletes the community is reaching out as well.
