Men’s Basketball Holds First Day of Official Practice

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 2026-27 Florida Atlantic men's basketball team was put through the paces for the first time officially during Monday's opening day of practice. The season opener, the third under Head Coach John Jakus, is just six weeks away.
The 15-man squad, made up of four returnees and 11 newcomers – eight transfers and three freshmen – took to Abessinio Court at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena for a two-plus-hour session Monday afternoon. The Owls also had a portion of their gear revealed to them for the first time prior to today's opening practice:

"Getting back on the court for the first official day of practice is something we've looked forward to for months. The guys came in with great energy and worked hard. There will always be things to work on, but we've got six weeks to prepare for the season, and I have all the confidence we'll be ready for November 2."
