BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball Head Coach LeAnn Freeland has announced the first transfer addition to the Owls' 2026-27 squad in sophomore guard Janiah Suprius.
Suprius, a South Florida native from Lake Worth, Florida, joins the Owls following her freshman season at Palm Beach State College.
"Janiah stepped into the juco scene at Palm Beach State and immediately made herself a name at the national level as a freshman," expressed head coach LeAnn Freeland. "She is a highly efficient, scoring point guard who is crafty and pushes the tempo in transition. One of the areas that impresses me the most about her game is her ability to make her teammates better. She is extremely hard to contain in the full and half court, finds open teammates, and delivers precision passes. She has a high motor, loves to extend and harass players in the full court, and rebounds extraordinarily well for her size. We are confident Janiah will be an impact player for us right away. Our coaching staff and players are excited to announce Janiah Suprius is an Owl."
During her freshman season at Palm Beach State, Suprius started 28 contests, helping lead the Panthers to their fourth consecutive Region 8 Championship. She was recognized as an NJCAA Second Team All-American and the FCSAA DII Player of the Year, in addition to earning NJCAA Player of the Week honors three times throughout the 2025-26 season. Suprius registered 727 points, shooting 52.2 percent from the field and averaging 26 points per contest, ranking second in the nation at the NCJAA DII level. She also recorded 8.4 rebounds per game, 5.9 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game as a Panther. She posted double-figures in all 28 contests, scoring a career-best 36 points twice against Chesapeake College on Dec. 17 and at Florida State College at Jacksonville on Jan. 24. She finished the season with 10 double-doubles and five triple-doubles, collecting a career-best 14 rebounds vs. Bryant & Stratton College on Jan. 2, Denmark Technical College on Jan. 10, and at DME Academy on Jan. 20, as well as dishing out a career-best 12 assists at Hillsborough Community College on Dec. 12.
Prior to arriving at Palm Beach State, Suprius was a four-year letterwinner at Seminole Ridge Community High School. With the Hawks, Suprius helped lead the team to a 6A District B Championship and was named the Palm Beach Post 7A-5A Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Suprius averaged 15.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game over her four-year career. As a senior, she posted a career-best 19.2 points per game, while also adding 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.
