Former Women's Basketball Coach Jim Jabir Passes Away

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Jim Jabir, a former head coach of the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team, has passed away at the age of 63 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
The Brooklyn, N.Y., native took the helm of the Owls in April 2017 and served as the head coach for four seasons. His 36-year head coaching career spanned six institutions, which included Buffalo State, Siena, Marquette, Providence, Dayton and Florida Atlantic.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the Jabir family on the passing of their beloved father and husband," said FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White. "Jim was a special human who profoundly impacted the lives of so many across Florida Atlantic University during his time as our women's basketball coach. Please keep his wife, Angie, and the Jabir family in your prayers during this difficult time."
He retired from coaching following the 2023-24 season at Siena, after amassing an overall career record of 561–472 (.543) that included three regular season conference titles, two conference tournament championships and six NCAA appearances, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2015 at Dayton.
Jim (August 12, 1962 – April 16, 2026) is survived by his wife, Angie, and his four children, Jude, Lauren, Shane and Jackson.
