BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's tennis team downed No. 75 East Tennessee State Thursday morning by a 4-1 score.

With the win, the Owls improve to 5-7 on the year while ETSU moves to 10-4.

QUOTABLE
"It was a great team win," said Maria Alvarez. "I'm pleased with the way we set the tone from the very first point of doubles play. The intensity carried into singles, where the team showed great composure and toughness despite the challenging conditions. We competed at a high level, especially in the important moments. Now, it's time to prepare for our next match against Harvard on Saturday."

THE BEGINNING
The freshman doubles duo of Malika Amirgaliyeva / Alexia Patru were the first victors of the day, earning a 6-1 win on court #2. Panna Bartha / Katrin Pavkova, who rank No. 64 nationally, clinched the point for the Owls with an identical match score on the top court. The Owls were up 5-0 on court #3, but that match was abandoned.

THE MIDDLE
Shortly after singles play began, Amirgaliyeva's opponent medically retired, giving FAU the 2-0 lead. Malwina Rowinska secured court #2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win, pulling the Owls within one point of clinching the match.

THE FINALE
ETSU would take court #5 to stave off an Owl shutout, but Pavkova won a three-set match at 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 to clinch the victory for FAU.
