BOCA RATON, Fla. --  The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team's freshman guard
Josiah Parker was named the American Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Parker leads the American as the Freshman of the Week award recipient with five thus far. He recorded two double-doubles on the week against Rice and South Florida. At Rice, he set a new career-high in points with 25 on the night, the most by an Owl freshman since 2019, along with ten boards. Picking up where he left off, Parker recorded his fifth double-double, and fourth in five games, with 13 points and 10 rebounds against the Bulls in a game where he recorded his first collegiate start.Â
Across both outings, he averaged 19.0 points per game with 10.0 rebounds a game. Parker has led the Owls in the last five games in total points (86), rebounds (51), and free-throw attempts (37).

Florida Atlantic goes on the road to the state of Texas for a six-day road trip to face UTSA on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Owls will then travel straight to Denton to take on the Mean Green on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2/U.
