BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's tennis team will open the 2026 dual match home season on Friday, Jan. 30 when the Owls play host to Syracuse at 4 p.m.
It will be the first opportunity for FAU to play at the friendly confines of the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center, as well as introduce fans to the newest additions after losing three players following the historic 2025 season that ended at the NCAA Tournament. The Owls welcome back and are led by juniors
Panna Bartha,
Malwina Rowinska and sophomore
Lara Smejkal, who has a 2-1 team-leading record.
New to the lineup is redshirt freshman
Katrin Pavkova, who is 3-1on the year and 1-1 in dual match competition. She is joined by freshmen
Malika Amirgaliyeva and
Alexia Patru.
FAU's doubles teams have yet to drop a point in 2026 with the top two teams of Rowinska / Smejkal and Bartha / Pavkova holding records of 3-0 each. The freshman duo of Amirgaliyeva and Patru are looking for their first doubles win.
FAU will work to even the all-time series to 3-3.
As a special promotion, free pizza will be available to fans in attendance.
