BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Florida Atlantic's men's basketball junior guard
Kanaan Carlyle was named the American Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
The Georgia native Carlyle was named the American Player of the Week after two victories against UAB and Memphis this past week.
Carlyle led FAU with 25 points, five rebounds, and three steals in the program's first victory in Birmingham. On Sunday, he totaled 17 points, three boards, and two assists. Carlyle averaged 21.0 points this week, totaling 42 points, leading the Owls on the 2-0 week. He went 15-for-33 from the field and is now on his fifth consecutive double-digit scoring game to increase his total to 11 double-digit scoring games this season. He is the second leading scorer on FAU's squad with a total of 288 points.
