BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls closed out the regular season with an exclamation point on Tuesday, earning a 69-62 win over the Memphis Tigers on Senior Day inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
With the win, Florida Atlantic improves to 11-20 overall and 3-15 in AAC play, while Memphis falls to 7-22 and 5-13 in league play to close out the regular season.
Perry's career-high 31 points came on 11-of-19 shooting from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. The junior from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, who has reached double-figure points in four of the last five games, surpassed her previous career high of 29 points that came at East Carolina on January 4, 2025.
Memphis jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but
Stefanie Ingram connected on the Owls' first 3-pointer of the day to spark a 9-0 Owl run to take an 11-8 lead with 4:12 remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers got one back to cut the lead to one, 11-10, but an and-1 from
Mya Perry and a triple from
Ta'Ziah Jenks pushed the Owls' lead back out to seven, 17-10, with 1:47 left in the opening quarter. Memphis tacked on two more free throws as the Owls finished the quarter with a five-point lead, 17-12.
The Owls and Tigers traded baskets through the beginning of the second quarter as Memphis cut the Owls' deficit to six, 24-18, at the five-minute mark, but a Perry triple and a layup from
Lovisa Asbrink Hose extended Florida Atlantic's lead back out to double-figures, 29-18, at the second-quarter media timeout. Memphis closed the half on a run, but the Owls maintained a six-point advantage, 32-26, at the halftime break.
Florida Atlantic came out red-hot to open the second half. Ingram got things started with her second 3-pointer of the day, sparking a 9-0 run for the Owls, as they held Memphis scoreless over the first five minutes of the half to extend their lead to 15, 41-26. The Tigers roared back with a run of their own, scoring 11 unanswered to cut the Owls' lead back down to just four, 41-37, however, Perry closed out the scoring in the third to push the Owls lead back out to six, 43-37, entering the fourth.
Perry knocked down her second triple of the day to open the fourth, pushing the Owls lead back out to nine, 46-37. Another set of back-to-back buckets from Perry and Asbrink Hose extended the Owls' lead to double figures, 54-42, with 6:52 to play. The Owls maintained a 10-point advantage through the 3:30-minute mark after a trio of free throws from Perry, 59-49, but a 7-2 Tiger run cut the Owls lead to just five, 61-56, with 1:31 to go, however, it wasn't enough as the Owls closed the contest taking a 69-62 senior day win.
- Mya Perry and Stefanie Ingram led the way for the Owls offensively.
- Perry finished with a career-high 31 points, shooting 11-of-19 from the field, and 7-of-8 from the line, while also adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
- It marked Perry's first career 30-point game and her 10th time this season scoring 20 or more points.
- Stefanie also finished in double-figures, scoring 12 points of 5-of-11 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, while also dishing out a game-high eight assists, six boards, and a steal.
- Seniors Jada Moore and Maria Myklebust lead the Owls defensively, combining for 17 boards. Moore collected a game-high nine boards, while Myklebust finished second on the team with eight.
- Florida Atlantic outscored Memphis in three out of the four quarters on the evening.
- As a team, the Owls also outshot the Tigers 39.4 percent to 37.7 percent from the field, 26.9 percent to 18.8 percent from 3-point range, and 83.3 percent to 63.6 percent at the line.
- The Owls also held advantages in fastbreak points, 22-6, points in the paint, 38-34, and points off turnovers, 16-12.
The Owls head to the AAC Tournament and a first-round game on Saturday at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
