Florida Atlantic Wraps Up Conference Championships As Runners-Up

KNOXVILLE, Tenn./DALLAS – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming & diving teams finished the fourth and final day of their two conference championships on Saturday night, wrapping the competitions up with more school records broken and medals won.
On the men's side, the team concluded its successful championship meet, finishing as runners up in the Atlantic Sun, improving upon their third place finish from last year. Day four saw more Owls podium finishes and A-Final successes. Overall, the Owls finished with 851 points, 283 more points than the 2024 championships.
After sweeping the 1m and 3m diving events, freshman Isac Faxius was named ASUN Most Outstanding Diver.
Day four for the women was the most successful night of them all. The evening included a new school record and multiple podium finishes as well as plenty of athletes recording best times. Overall, the Owls wrapped up their conference championship meet with 1008 points.

Women
- The night began with Cica Carvalho finishing seventh overall in the 1650 free (17:00.36)
- The highlight of the evening came from Megan Drover-Smith's 200 back performance. The junior grabbed herself a silver medal while setting a new school record with a time of 1:55.88. Her time also qualifies her for an NCAA B-Cut
- Amelia Robertson also had a strong performance in the A-Final finishing eighth (2:01.66)
- Both Ludo Pavia and Maja Piotrowicz performed well in the B-Final of the 100 fly, finishing with times of 50.61 and 51.69
- In the 200 breast A-Final, Nula Gow swam herself to a new best time of 2:15.09
- Senior Dolores Margni, in her final conference race as an Owl, swam herself to a silver medal in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.57
- The final day began with four Owls contributing points in the 1650 free, led by a second-place finish by Gianni Carlino (15:43.23)
- In the 100 free, Daniel Laureyssens finished seventh in the A-Final
- The 200 back saw three different Owls in the finals with senior Peyton Ming finishing seventh in the A-Final
- The freshman duo of Matthew Hand and Jayden Repak continued to help the Owls, both scoring points in the 200 breast A-Final as well both setting new freshman records in the event
- To cap off the championships, the team of Timo Paisley, Logan Thornsberry, Rush Clark, and Laureyssens tied the school record and took home silver in the 400 free relay in a time of 2:56.28

The 2024-25 season will continue postseason competitions in the coming weeks. Owl divers who qualify are set for the Diving B Zone Championships taking place from Mar. 9 to Mar. 12. Select Owls will then compete in their third National Invitational Championships, held in Ocala, Florida from Thursday, Mar. 13 – Saturday, Mar. 15. inside the FAST facility. The 2025 NCAA Championships are scheduled from Mar. 19 - 22 for the women and Mar. 26 – 29 for the men.FOLLOW THE OWLS
