BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's tennis team finished the 2023-24 season with a 13-9 record and a No. 73 national ranking.
The Owls, who tallied the longest winning streak in program history at 11, finished the season ranked among the nation's best for the fifth time since 2018.
Much of the Owls' success can be attributed to the play of American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year
Panna Bartha. Bartha won her first 11 collegiate matches that were played to completion and was up in a 12th at the time the match was clinched. She had big wins over a ranked Camila Soares of Memphis, as well as the top players from Penn and in-state AAC foe USF. Her efforts were not limited to singles play; the freshman tallied a 12-8 record in doubles action.
Bartha was not the only Owl to achieve success in 2023-24. Five recorded double-digit singles wins, led by
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon who was 20-9 in 2023-24, including a 15-6 dual match record.
FAU, who continue to be a part of an athletic department that has maintained above a 3.0 grade point average the last nine years, will return five players while welcoming four newcomers to the 2024-25 squad.
