BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic women's tennis, ranked No. 63 nationally, earned a No. 6 seed at the American Athletic Conference Championships scheduled for Wednesday, April 17 through Sunday, April 21. All matches will be played at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas, Texas.
The Owls will open play on Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m. and will face No. 11Â UAB the winner of Wednesday's first round match versus No. 14 Temple. Florida Atlantic closed out its 2024 regular-season campaign with a 6-1 victory over WKU on Monday and hold an 12-8 record heading into the tournament. UAB is 13-10 on the year. The Owls have met UAB just once, back in 2001 when the Blazers down FAU by a 7-0 score.
Florida Atlantic, who tallied an 11-match winning streak earlier this year, is led by freshman
Panna Bartha. Bartha holds a 14-5 singles record and is 11-7 in doubles action. Both
Millie-Mae Matthews and
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon enter the championship with a 12-4 record in doubles play. Gomez O'Hayon holds the most singles wins on the year with 18 and is 13-6 in dual match play. Matthews has 16 wins and is 13-3 this spring. Senior captain

Lexi Silna are both looking for their 10th win of the dual-match season.
The winner of the women's championship will earn The American's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships.
