BOCA RATON, Fla. – For the 16th consecutive week, the Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team (19-5, 9-2 AAC) remains ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. This marks the 10th longest streak in the nation.
In the latest AP poll announced on Monday, the Owls came in at No. 24. They remain in elite company with the top teams in the nation, tied with No. 5 Houston for the most wins in the nation (54) since the beginning of the 2022-23 campaign. With 19 victories this season, only five other teams in the top 25 have more wins than FAU.
The Owls are coming off a two-game roadtrip in which they went 1-1, both going to overtime. While they came up just short against UAB on Feb. 8, 76-73, they responded with an offensive explosion against Wichita State on Feb. 11 in the extra period, scoring 21 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field on the way to a 95-82 victory.
Scoring contributions over the week came from several key players. Junior guards Johnell Davis (17 and 14) and Alijah Martin (14 and 11) tallied double digit points in both games. Against Wichita State, junior center Vlad Goldin recorded his third career 20+ point outing and Brandon Weatherspoon scored 19 off the bench on 7-for-9 shooting from the field.
The Owls impressed on the defensive end as well, recording a season high 13 steals against the Shockers.
