ATLANTA, Ga. – Florida Atlantic redshirt junior Victoria Gomez Hayon wins a three-set battle to advance to the ITA Southeast Championship semifinal match, played in Atlanta, Georgia, and hosted by Georgia Tech.
Gomez O'Hayon dropped the first set to FIU's Oyintomo Quadre but rallied to capture sets two and three and the match by a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 score.
Gomez O'Hayon will return to the Georgia Tech courts at 1 p.m. Monday to play Miami's Raquel Gonzalez.
Before her singles match, Gomez O'Hayon and doubles mate newcomer Malwina Roinksa defeated the doubles duo of Kate Sharabura / Scarlett Nicholson from host Georgia Tech by an 8-4 score in the round of 16. The FAU duo fell in the quarterfinals to the FIU duo of Ekaterina Khayrutdinova / Valery Gynia 8-4.
